Shirley
and I were not into Dobermans when Triadel was founded and well on
its way to be important in the breed.
We
bought our first Doberman in 1960 from Red Gate Kennels in
Philadelphia and she was a granddaughter of Stormson and a
wonderful companion and obedience worker.
The
day she died Shirley wrote Tess Hensler and Jane Kay for a show
quality Doberman. We
had no reply from Tess, but Jane referred us to Jeanne Hendricks
“Triadel” and a prompt courteous reply ended in a very close
and wonderful friendship.
We
bought a black male on Jane’s recommendation and showed him for
a season, but with top handlers, our lack of experience ended in
retiring him into obedience and a great companion.
Jeanne
had bred a bitch and suggested we take a bitch from the litter and
she would show her and help us get more experience with the breed.
The
bitch was nice and we showed her some, but she was not the
showgirl we had hoped for, but was a great obedience dog getting
her CDX and some points, but not pushed to finish.
Jeanne
suggested we breed her and she would help us with the puppies.
The breeding was all on the Kay Hill line and we had great
puppies. We kept a
boy and a girl and Jeanne finished both of them.
The bitch Ch Triadel’s On Stage CD did some impressive
winning and made Top Twenty in 1982.
We
bred her twice back to the Kay Hill line and more champions and
again with Jeanne helping, we were doing the breeding and Jeanne
managing the dogs.
In
the mid 80’s Jeanne was working several jobs to keep the family
moving and decided the dogs were not as important as the family
and suggested we could keep the “Triadel” name and continue
breeding and showing with her blessing.
We
line breed on the Kay Hill line and would go out on occasion, but
came back to the line. We
have had some success with several outcross breedings, but real
disappointment with some others.
We
are careful to check health problems and test where we know the
tests are secure. We
try to breed dogs after maturity – 3 or more years – and keep
and breed only those dogs of superior quality in temperament,
Conformation and health.
We
do not breed a lot and have no kennel.
The dogs are family and live with us.
We sell to people that want a family dog – no kennel –
and bitches on a spay contract or complete breeding control.
We
are very proud of our dogs and Shirley is helpful to every dobe
owner and welcome people to come and visit our dogs.
We require anyone interested in having one of our dogs
visit and see the puppy they choose to live with.
We
are happy to talk Dobermans to anyone really interested – they
are a Special Breed.
